It does what it says it does and it gets pretty good reception but it is a real hassle setting this thing up. I don’t like having the external setup. I love XM as built in to my Audi. But this setup is less than ideal.
In response to the comment that my review made no sense I add the following:
The point was I bought this unit because there was not an integrated alternative at that time for my vehicle, but over time having the wires strung all over the car and having to unplug it to move it to another vehicle or inside was just too much of a hassle. There has since been released an aftermarket version that integrates into my car and I have installed that. What I am saying is that you may think you can live with all the wires and the fact that the base unit is not integrated into the car but over time it became more of a hassle than it is worth…at least from my perspective. Others may not feel the same way.

Just love my new XM satellite radio receiver. First time buyer of such an item and I am really pleased. I would reccommend this to anyone. It is easy to use, big, lit display.

the item description was somewhat misleading . we still needed to buy 2 other items to set it up.The cassette adapter is no good of course if you don’t have a cassette player in you car. Also the manual is just terrible to understand how to set it up and resolve problems. It took many frustrating hours to get it to work right and understand how to change settings when traveling through a large area. The unit itself is well made and it’s great to have access to so many stations.

First I want to say that this is my third and favorite XM receiver. I also want to point out that you will have to buy extra components in order to use the radio in the US. Finally I would like to point out that the unit comes loose quite often from the dock if you use the buttons on the unit; causing antenna to appear on the screen and halting the music/talk until the unit is re-attached. Other than that it is a great unit, that looks sharp, and has tons of features.

Radio quit working after two weeks and no audio sound at all. Is now being sent to Audiovox for repair. No reply from XM radio’s customer service after emailing them 3 days ago. I read an article yesterday that said XM is planning to file Chapter 11 soon, so I am not likely to hear from them. Looking through the reviews bad radios are common no matter which model of Audiovox you have. To bad I paid for a full year of XM already, which is non-refundable by the way.
