This product probably works great in all honesty. I couldn’t get it to work. It’s supplied in what looks like an OEM type of kit because the instructions are very limited. The other thing that you’ll likely need is a splitter that has the proper frequencies for DTV. This box needs to go out by the dish with 4 wires going in to it and then I guess the signal is carried indoors to your tv on one wire and then the DTV approved splitter is used there with a power supply. I was able to get it to work with Std def on one tv, but then my other tv’s didn’t work and like I said, it ony worked for std def.
My review is going to be skewed, because it is probably a great product, but probably because of my own fault I couldn’t get it to work. I am a Mechanical Engineer, so I do have a technical background. I emailed the seller, but the instructions he gave to me seemed cryptic – something to the effect of ‘the best way is to add on’ or something like that. He did send me a second schematic, which was helpful, but I couldn’t get it to work. Maybe I’m supposed to use different filters on my high def DTV DVR, but I gave up after a few tries. I figure it will be easier to do it the old fashioned way of running an additional co-ax cable.

Frankly, this is the greatest product DirecTV ever invented. No more running new wires to install a system, and the 8 version has OTA input. Note that DirecTV does not tell you, but this is cascadeable from a normal POWERED multiswitch like the 6-16 unit. Only drawback is they are a little funky with using approved splitters – buy the good stuff and avoid troubles.
