HELLO, I’M USING THE ASUS WL 520GU ROUTER, AND I CANNOT SEEM TO GET MY WIRELESS TO WORK.?
Okay, well… I am just about fed up with my ignorance at routers… so I guess i’ll just ask the community out there who are knowledgeable about these things to instruct me a few things.
Like I stated, I am currently using the Asus wl 520gu router. Also I am using Windows Vista 32bit.
I always get this error page when trying to get onto a webpage (eg, google.com) and it always tells me that I ‘have set the wrong dynamic or static IP address for your WL-520GU.’
It recommends that I check whether your IP, DNS Settings are correct.
I’ve filled in the blanks in the WAN settings tab in my router, (i.e. IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server 1, DNS server 2, and the host name). All the information gathered was from the ipconfig/all command.
I fill in all the blanks, and I set the WAN type connection to Dynamic, and it gives me the same page. After that doesn’t work, I change the WAN type connection to Static, and i select the IPTV STB Port to be LAN3 & LAN4.
Putting it as a static wan connection grants me to connect via ethernet cable but it doesn’t solve my wireless network problem…
Like… some of the things I have said up there doesn’t make sense to me, but that is what is written on the router setup page LOL.
Please help =(
Ask me if you need additional information thanks!
FYI wireless worked before the firmware update, and it doesn’t seem like a lot of people are having this problem (done from a couple of searches on google). After the firmware update, the router started to give me all these problems that I have not been aware of before… soo i’m pretty confused since this is my first router. In other words, wireless worked, but it was by chance, and i never got to the solution of solving this problem …

I just want to say that I have the exact problem with you. What I noticed though, my wireless/internet in general is working if I don’t change any security option. But with that settings it really bothers me since everyone is able to access my internet now.
I’m using Charter Communication, I’m not sure if that’s the problem I’ll try to make a contact with ASUS cust service on Monday, if it’s still not working, I’m just gonna return the router. The weird thing I see a lot of good review about this product.

Please proceed as follow:
Reboot router by application upper bottom.
If that doesn’t do the trick
Reboot it again by unplugging power supply cord
Not results it means the router is not hand-shaking with your service provider.
Then proceed with the following:
-Shut down or disconnect from the router all your machine on your LAN
-Disconnect router Power supply cord
-Disconnect Modem power supply cord
Wait 3 minutes and start connecting devices back as follow:
Power up modem, wait for the Power, Send , Receive, Status (cable) or other signal light (LEDs) to
Finishing blinking ( I would give it 2-3 minutes).
Power up router and wait one minute
Start connecting the rest of the devices one by one and verified they get connection to WWW.
Give priority to your main machine and If you have any weather or VoIP devices connecting to the network
Connect those after you verified you LAN computers are connected
If not results please give details of devices , service provider type (cable or DSL) OS version
Good Luck
