CONNECTING LAPTOP TO TV VIA VGA?
I’m in need of help. I am trying to connect my laptop which is using Windows 7 Ultimate to my flatscreen Television via VGA but when I connect it sometimes it will go on for a split second and go off saying ‘Unknown Format’ I already have the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile installed. How can I make it work?
Thanks in advance.

Check your display settings.
Right click the desktop and click Personalize, then click display settings.
In that screen firstly check whether your TV is enabled.
Then also check what the resolution is set to.
Depending on your TV it might need to be 1920×1080 if your TV is Full HD compatible, or 1280×720 for 720p TV’s
Also there might be a setting somewhere to change whether the signal is PAL or NTSC, which must be correct as well for your TV (unless you have fully PAL/NTSC compatible TV, most TV’s now are universal as it’s cheaper to make them that way for international shipping).
If it’s coming up with unknown format it certainly is that somewhere along the lines one of your resolution settings is incompatible with the TV.
Also when changing the resolutions, make sure your changing the right one, you should have 2 monitor screens, one called 1 and one called 2, one of them will be your laptop screen (quite possibly 1) and the other will be the TV. You also might need to enable the TV if it’s ghosted out, right click on the TV monitor in display settings and click Attached (obviously only do this when it is plugged in, otherwise Windows will just de-attach it.)
