DITCHING CABLE.. CAN YOU WATCH LIVE TV ONLINE?
Ive read all the for a topic like this but none of them actually work, most will take you to some spam sites, etcetc..
So my question is:
Im looking to ditch cable and save some money by watching Television online. I know theres sites like Hulu and stuff, but I would like to watch LIVE programing like sports and ESPN the History channel and Discovery channel. Is there a website one can go to for this? Or do I actually have to buy a program to watch shows? Nearly all the answers to this type of question direct you to some you have to buy or a weird website, all of which im trying to avoide
SPAMMERS: Please look elsewhere to post your sites. I will be deleting all the spam posts that get up here.
This is a real question for REAL people

There are a few channels but they’re not usually anything of high quality. Sports channels tend not to stream their content live because they want you to watch their subscription channels, hence paying them. There is a variety of good ‘on demand’ online TV channels here in the UK, particularly the BBC iPlayer, the ITV Player, 4OD and there’s one for Channel 5. Sky run one but you need to be one of their customers to use it. The one’s I’ve shown may require you to have a UK IP address (the BBC iPlayer definitely does), but using a UK proxy might get around that if it was fast enough. There may be similar good free resources available in the US or elsewhere, I wouldn’t know as I’m in the UK. I use these services more than I watch live TV as I find them more convenient and the video quality is good, particularly for the BBC HD channel.

there is virtually no live TV on the internet and what there is is poor quality and unwatchable

No, in general, you are not able to watch live TV on-line.
All the spam or rip off websites that claim they do this, if they were, would be violating licensing/copyright requirements if they were to sampling try to steam live content to the web, as they claim.
Solutions to this issue may eventually be worked out such that this can be done, legally, but that isn’t the case to date.
Sorry.

You would probably need a specific ISP like AT&T U-Verse which pipes TV over fiber optics along with networking.
If you are looking for entertainment when there is nothing but infomercials on broadcast TV and you don’t have an fresh disks, some BluRay players, TV’s or other devices can do streaming Netflix. Many of the movies are HD and they also stream many TV shows that are available on DVD.

Most shows aren’t live, they are a week from live…
I watch Supernatural and Smallville about 5 days after it’s on the networks…
ESPN news…you might get that live.
Other news shows are the same.
But Football is delayed as other sports are.
That’s because someone has to pay for the shows, and the sponsors wouldn’t be too happy about being able to get it online at same time.
