Hi all

I have just accessed my hotmail account on line (I normally do it via live mail now) and noticed that I had a ‘vacation’ reply on. This is a feature I have never used in my life. I went in and had a look at it and it is a spam message (I’ll copy and paste it at the end of the question).

I do not know how long it’s been on. I have never given anyone my password, and have a good firewall and anti-virus system set up. I have of course now switched it off and changed my password.

I would really like to know how someone could possibly have done this, and how to prevent it happening again as I find this quite worrying.

I do use this email account for newsletters, etc..

Normally do it on one laptop with Windows Vista and have windows livemail, which auto downloads all my emails to my hard-drive. Occasionally have used another personal (my other PC, parent’s Computer or couple of times other place), at which point I would go through IE/FF and do it on web browser. I always clear password and email address at the end of a session if not at home.
