HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK DV9917CL

is this a good notebook for normal usage a college student would need ( word, researching, and surfing the net basically) , i am just a tiny bit afraid of buying it because i think it is an older series, i cant even find it on the HP website.. what do you advanced personal users think ? and wat do u suggest? price is affordable, $ 799 with a free printer. is that printer covering up for anything?
also , wat do u think of HP’s service tech support? this is my first laptop so i want to make sure i am getting a good deal.

do u need world wide web connection to use Television tuner on the hp pavilion dv notebook ?
Only reason Im asking is because when I click on the software it came with I clicked on watch tv and a message came up , saying you need to be connected to the internet, but I thought that the internal tv card came with connection over the air just like a wireless or a mobile phone works , without some complicated socket for aerial , if u know what I mean.
